Our Philosophy
Thinking Outside the Box
Our approach is based on the idea that if you are willing to think outside the box, keep an open mind, and be a little flexible, you might be surprised at how many choices you have.
Exciting Opportunities
Colleges are looking for hard-working, talented students from diverse backgrounds. Many schools offer generous scholarships for academic success, athletic talent, and financial need.
Tailored Solutions
We understand families often have constraints (e.g., financial, geographical, or other) that may limit the universe of colleges they will consider. We work with you to find the best solution for your specific needs.
Keeping the Doors Open
The earlier we begin to collaborate with our clients the more doors we can open for them. We strive to keep the doors open until you are ready to make your choice.
Selecting the Best Fit
At the end of the day, our goal is for each student-athlete to be in the enviable position of getting to choose the college that fits them best.
Our Services
Navigate the College Recruiting Process
LA4College specializes in helping student-athletes and their families navigate the college recruiting process. Most of our clients choose to work with us on an individual basis, but we also offer single-session counseling and group services.
Individualized Program
Our Individualized Comprehensive Placement Program is suitable for high school student-athletes who would benefit from ongoing, individual support throughout their recruiting process. After an initial consultation with the student and parents, we will:
- Provide an overview of the recruiting process.
- Review and assess the student’s academic and athletic profiles.
- Offer input on high school curriculum and standardized testing strategies.
- Develop a list of schools based on academic/ athletic/ financial/ geographic goals.
- Formulate a personalized recruiting strategy.
- Help with NCAA Eligibility Center registration and ongoing task lists.
- Create an athletic resume and other marketing materials to be sent to appropriate coaches.
- Assist with communication with coaches.
- Help plan official and unofficial recruiting trips.
- Give advice on scholarships and financial aid.
- Oversee the college application process (i.e., application, standardized testing, transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.) and help evaluate and choose among offers.
Assessment Consultation
An Introductory Assessment may be sufficient for some families to address their questions and concerns about the college recruiting process. While topics may vary depending on the needs of each student, in an introductory assessment we typically provide:
- An overview of the recruiting process.
- A review and assessment of the student’s academic and athletic profiles.
- Assistance in developing a preliminary college list, if appropriate.
Prior to our consultation, we will review the student’s transcript, standardized testing record, and responses to our questionnaires to prepare for our discussion.
Mentored Program
Our Mentored Program is appropriate for those students who seek assistance with the athletic recruiting process but want to do much of the outreach work themselves. We guide the students through the various stages of the process via Zoom meetings focused on specific topics, such as:
- An overview of the recruiting process.
- An explanation of high school curriculum and standardized testing strategies.
- Formulating a target list based on the student’s academic, athletic, financial, and geographic priorities.
- Registering with the NCAA and keeping up-to-date with the task list.
- Creating an athletic resume and cover letter.
- Communicating with coaches.
- Planning official and unofficial recruiting trips.
- Evaluating and choosing among offers.
